Slot cars were a revelation back in the day. They offered cheap and simple thrills, and were a part of everyone’s toy collection. But with time, they’ve been replaced by the game console, which offers a much more visually appealing experience for racing car fans. But what if we could combine modern technology with the simple concept of slot cars? Well, we’d get something like the RealFX Racing system.
The RealFX Racing System consists of specially-engineered racing cars that can be operated via a remote joystick control, just like a regular RC car. What makes this system different is the race track technology. We all remember the tracks of those slot cars. Those tracks used to be unforgiving, approach a corner too fast and the slot car would go flying off the track. But by using modern technology and sensors, engineers have been able to add a degree of ‘smart’ into the RC cars in the RealFX Racing system. You see, they’re equipped with special optical sensors, which can actually detect the limits of the track, and are then prevented with the help of these sensors from going off. Of course, poor skills at the remote control will still cause the cars to spin and collide. So the spirit of slot car racing is still there.
While the RealFX RC cars are impressive pieces of engineering, the special tracks they move on also play a vital role in the whole experience. The tracks are lightly printed, so the cars exhibit natural handling. And, the starter kit includes around 52ft. of tracks. Really, that’s quite enough for most people’s needs. RealFX Racing is currently in the funding stage at Kickstarter. It’s nearly accumulated the funds it needs to make it into production. But you can still avail some amazing early bird specials on this. Simply visit the campaign page and have a look at the various options available. Deliveries will start by October of 2014.
