360cam – The World’s First Full HD 360 Camera

Whenever we think of cameras with large field of views, we instantly think about the GoPro series of action cameras. While they are awesome at what they do, 360 degree photo and video capture is still a rare thing and that is what makes the new 360cam so special. It’s the world’s first 360 degree cam that comes with full HD video capture. Now that’s an impressive feat.

360cam is portable and lightweight

The 360cam is actually made of three 185 degree fish-eye lenses that all combine to give it a massive field of view. But these aren’t just some hacked-together fish-eye lenses. They have been thoughtfully and intelligently put together in such a way that each out of the lens is stitched together perfectly with the output of another. The result is a perfect 360 image. What’s even more impressive is that the 360cam also does full HD video recording, with a massive 360 degree field of view! If you were to use it as a bike cam, it would show the road ahead as well as your face. This really is an exciting device. But the real fun doesn’t even begin here.

360cam can be plugged into any bulb socket

Like many other modern digital gadgets, the 360cam has full integration with modern smartphones. You can use your smartphone to remotely take pictures with the device, with the display acting as a sort of a view finder. You can also adjust the image settings through the 360cam mobile app. The makers of the 360cam have made it quite customizable, and developers can actually use its output and put it to their own uses. For example, the 360cam can be doubled up to do security duty, acting as a security camera that captures nearly everything in its surroundings. The engineers actually realized this use and have provided a standard ring adapter that can fit into any bulb holder so your 360cam simply needs to be plugged with no battery issues.

You can use 360cam’s own desktop software to view the incredible videos it makes in even more depth. The software allows you to select the area you’d like to view while the video plays. This is a seriously good filming device for adventurers. The project has been successfully funded through its Kickstarter campaign, but you can still back the project and grab the 360cam at a good $200 less than its suggested retail price. The 360cam will begin shipping to customers by November 2014.
