HTC have scheduled an event for the last week of March for the press and it’s quite obvious that it will be to officially reveal the successor to their famous HTC One superphone. So what will the next HTC One (being called the M8) be like? What can we expect next from the company that gave us a revolutionary Ultrapixel camera? Let’s find out in our new HTC One rumor roundup.
The HTC One was hailed as being one of the best-looking smartphones that money could buy. It was certainly the best looking Android superphone on sale. If any of the leaked HTC One M8 pictures are to be believed, then the next HTC superphone will feature an almost identical design, albeit with a few minor design tweaks. The design is over-all more rounded, and rumors suggest the display could be gaining a few inches as well. It will still retain the 1080p screen resolution, as the Galaxy S5 hasn’t moved on either.
The next HTC One will feature a Snapdragon 800/805 SoC with all four cores running at >2.5GHz. Memory is also reportedly staying the same at 2 gigabytes. The real change, and the one we’re most excited for however, is the two modules at the back. Leaked photos suggest anything from a second camera sensor to a fingerprint reader. Although because the module is round-shaped, we’re inclined to believe that it’s going to be a second camera sensor. That makes things much more interesting because HTC might bless the next One with advanced focusing capabilities, possibly like the Lytro light field camera.
The HTC One M8 isn’t very far away from being revealed now, and we can’t wait to see what HTC bring to the world of smartphone photography. Although the smartphone industry has gone pretty stale when it comes to introducing new things, we can still expect something innovative when it comes to a new HTC superphone.
