Asus Transformer Book Trio Preview: A True All-In-One Device

If you aren’t a fan of hybrid laptops, you’re out of luck since they are definitely the future. Laptop manufacturers have started to incorporate touch screens with their laptops and Windows 8, for better or for worse, is touch friendly as well. We have also started to see some really innovative design ideas like laptops with detachable screens which turn into tablets and screens which swivel to switch between a tablet and a traditional laptop. At the Computex 2013, Asus has gone one step further and introduced the Transformer Book Trio which is the world’s first three-in-one notebook, tablet, and desktop PC. Let’s take a closer look at the Asus Transformer Book Trio.

Transformer Book Trio – Android Tablet, Windows 8 Laptop and Desktop:

The Transformer Book Trio is an 11.6 inch device with a FullHD resolution (1020×1080) that runs both Windows 8 and Android Jelly Bean. The tablet can be attached to the dedicated PC Station Dock which includes a powerful processor, a keyboard, a battery and additional ports which are must for any PC. The Dock isn’t useless without the tablet though, the Asus Transformer Book Trio can be attached to any display like a TV or a monitor and still be used as a standard desktop.

Transformer Book Trio – Specifications:

Asus is claiming that the experience between Android and Windows 8 will not be jarring and will be seamless and fast. Users can switch between the two operating systems through a hardware button dedicated for the purpose. Specifications include a fourth generation Haswell Core i7 processor in the PC Station Dock while the tablet will be powered by a 2GHz Intel Atom Z2580 processor and 2GB of RAM. The PC Station Dock will have 1TB of storage while the tablet includes 64GB of SSD storage which should make it blazingly fast. Asus claims the Transformer Book Trio will be able to deliver up to 15 hours of battery life when the device is purely used as a tablet.

Price And Availability:

The Asus Transformer Book Trio will be available in Q3 later this year but there is no word on pricing (expect to pay a hefty sum though) yet. Stay tuned and we’ll update this space as soon as we have something concrete. We think Asus is onto something special with their All-In-One solutions, do you feel the same way?
