It has been raining colors ever since the Nokia Lumia smartphones hit the scene. After the triumph of Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820, plenty had their eyes set on the upcoming Nokia Lumia 620. Afterall, not many could afford the Lumia 920 given their modest budgets. Hence, all those who missed out due to budget constraints have been wishing to get first taste of Windows Phone 8 on Lumia 620. Well, Lumia 620 has been announced by Nokia and its first landing spot is the UK. We take a look at pricing, worldwide release dates and more on Lumia 620 in our post today.
O2 does the honors
Consider yourself lucky that you won’t have to break a bank to get your hands on a new Nokia Lumia 620. It is only going to take some savings from you to accomplish the task. O2 has started to sell the handset for merely 149.99GBP on PAYG. In case you feel comfortable with getting it on contract, O2 will be offering the phone with a fixed charge of 18.50GBP each month. Nokia itself claims that O2’s pricing makes Lumia 620 the “most affordable Windows Phone yet.” If you plan to buy Lumia 620 from O2, do not miss out the swappable colored back covers that O2 is offering free of cost.
Nokia Lumia 620 specs
Let me give you a brief rundown of the Lumia 620 specs so that we do not get lost in the colors. Lumia 620 will come with a 3.8-inch WVGA ClearBlack display that boasts a resolution of 800x400pixels. While this may be a slight upgrade from what we have seen on Lumia 820, the 5 megapixels camera on the phone boasts fairly lesser resolution than the predecessor’s snapper.
Performance-wise, Lumia 620 packs a 1GHz Dual core processor along with 512MB of RAM. Users get in-built storage of 8GB which can be expanded up to 64GB. Like the predecessors, the Lumia 620 will come with a wide range of swappable colored back covers. Ofcourse, O2 will offer buyers a variety to choose from without charging a penny. Colors include: cyan, green, orange, yellow and white.
Release date elsewhere
In case you do not want it on contract with O2, you will have to wait another week. Mobile carriers like Three, Virgin Mobile and Vodafone will begin to sell the Lumia 620 starting 6th February. If not the cheap price, I get the feeling you will miss out the opportunity to get one of those flashy back covers for free. Be prepared to dish out 20GBP per piece in that case.
Or you know, you could bypass the whole contract hassle and get an unlocked Lumia 620 at the GSM Nation Store. We are sure we do not need to extoll the virtues of a contract free phone but if you still need to be convinced, take a look at our extensive coverage on contracts, unlocked smartphones and why they are better for you.
Value for money
Personally, I feel Lumia 620 would serve a pretty large population. It’s just what the doctor ordered. As a budget phone it does not seem to be watered down as the Lumia 610, so there is a lot on offer for the given amount. It’s time to go out there and buy it because it provides the best value for money if you want a Windows 8 Phone.
