Now that the iPhone 5 has been released, we have taken the liberty of making a list of the best smartphone displays to date. Lets jump right into our list that we have meticulously researched and formed. We present to you our Top 5 smartphone displays.
The number 5 spot goes to the Sony Xperia P; surprised? Don’t worry, we were too. So what exactly allowed the Xperia P to pull of such a coup and make it on the list? Well for us the Xperia P holds everything a great screen should have, especially considering the incredibly low cost of the phone. Sure the screen is a 4 inch backlit LCD with a resolution of 540 * 960, but add WhiteMagic and Sony Mobile BRAVIA into the mix and you have a pixel popper with great color and responsiveness.
Our number 4 spot goes to HTC One X. The One X has a huge 4.7 inch screen estate with a 720p resolution of 1280 *720. The screen is a super LCD rather than a Super AMOLED but the quality and brightness stands shoulder to shoulder with the very best. And the screen size is perfect for watching videos and playing games on your phone. Take a look at the picture below and feast your eyes.
At 3 is the behemoth Samsung Galaxy S3. With a screen size of 4.8 inch, this screen is best put to use for multimedia purposes. A Super AMOLED with 1280 * 720 resolution powers the display. What held this incredible phone from stealing our number 2 spot on the list was its relatively low brightness, low ppi to size ratio and high reflection. Minor hiccups aside the screen is a master class by Samsung.
Time for the top 2; Apple’s latest and greatest the iPhone 5 grabs this spot by just missing out on the number 1 spot. The screen is gorgeous and one of the best of the best to be released in the last few years. Apple should be proud of their achievement. The screen measures 4 inch, though not large by today’s standards but still large enough. The resolution on this one is 1136 * 640 pixels with a pixel density of 326ppi with screen ratio of 16:9. The sRGB screen has excellent brightness and color representation and comparatively less glare as compared to the GS3. Overall stunning.
So the number 1 spot doesn’t belong to the iPhone 5, but then which smartphone has the balls to take on Apple’s opus? It’s good Nokia’s new Lumia 920. The best screen to date, hands down. The Lumia 920 has a 4.5 inch AMOLED screen (PureMotion HD in Nokia’s own terminology). The screen boasts a resolution of 1280 * 768 pixels with pixel density worth 332 ppi. The ClearBlack technology also cuts down on the glare and boasts brightness. The curved glass is brilliant and overall the screen is top notch and deserves none other than our Number 1 spot.
Display Experts may rate iPhone 5 as having the best screen but we think otherwise. Nokia has really upped the game and Apple can no longer sweep the competition with its 4 inch display. Tell us what you think of our list and post your own lists in the comments section.
