Though barely taken seriously by US providers, Huawei’s 2012 goal, it seems, is to step up their game and make a name for themselves in smartphone sales. Perhaps in hopes of transcending the ranks of prepaid plans, the new unlocked Huawei P1 has features that will definitely place it in competition with big leagues phones like the Razr, HTC1 and Galaxy II.
Upon first viewing of the phone, many will notice its striking resemblance to the Razr in terms of size and width. The Ascend P1 is the thinnest dual core phone on the market today, coming in at just 7.7 mm at its thinnest point, and 10.5mm at its thickest.
It seems hard to believe that wrapped inside this slim skeleton lays a 1.5 GHz dual core processor, 1GB of RAM and 4GB internal storage. The Huawei includes a Micro SD expansion slot which users will soon utilize to store their precious data, photos and more. It also comes equipped with the latest Android operating system the Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.
The Huawei Ascend’s screen is a sizable 4.3 inches, with qHD Super AMOLED display and 960 x 540 pixel resolution. It comes with an 8mp camera, sporting a unique, backlight-illuminated sensor, aiding it in taking quality pictures, regardless of lighting conditions.
This phone is an excellent choice for purchase as an unlocked phone, as it offers both 3g and GSM capabilities, opening the doors to a wide variety of international plans and services.
