Today’s smartphones have become a necessity for many people who need technology to get their job done. Resultantly cellphone sales have gone up. This was recently proven by Amazon during its Q2 earnings call.
Amazon posted net sales of $6.57 billion; out of this, $1 billion was attributed to cellphone sales.
The company’s founder and CEO, Jeff Bezos, had this to say regarding cellphones:
“In the last twelve months, customers around the world have ordered more than $1 billion of products from Amazon using a mobile device. The leading mobile commerce device today is the smartphone…”
He also mentioned the potential of tablets and was optimistic about their growth by saying:
“…we’re excited by the potential of the new category of wireless tablet computers. Over time, tablet computers could become a meaningful additional driver for our business.”
The smartphones and tablets of today are clearly making our jobs and lives easier. These sales figures can only rise from here.
