Kindle DX Prices Dropped, Now With Better E-Ink Screen

Especially after the Kindle application for iPad, Kindle’s sales were adversely affected because of iPad. The Kindle app lets iPad users purchase eBooks directly off the Amazon store and read them on their iPad. This was something directly in competition with the Kindle device.

Many believe that Amazon should simply abandon Kindle. But at least for now, the people at Amazon are sticking with their product. They have now introduced a better looking E-Ink screen for the new Kindle DX. This model comes with a new packing and features, along with a new (and cheaper) price.

Unlike the previous Kindle which came in white, this model sports a graphite grey which might appeal to some users. At 9.7 inches, the screen size is still the same but the display is easier to read. This can be attributed to the new E-Ink screen which comes with a 50% better contrast, making text and images stand out better. Minimizing glare is perhaps Amazon’s attempt to make the screen’s canvas better resemble real paper.

After the introduction of the better screen one would expect a raise in the $489 price tag of Kindle. On the contrary the price tag has been brought down to $379 – an entire $110 price drop.

Shipping of the new model will begin from July 7th. With better features and a cheaper price, the future looks bright for Kindle DX.
