Flash For Android Hacked into iPad

Recently smartphone hackers have been coming with wonderful ways of porting one mobile operating system’s features into another. The most notable of these attempts were the recent Android ports on iPhone and HTC HD2. Now an even more impressive development has been made in the arena of mobile OS hacking.

Comex, the well known iOS jailbreaker, has ported Android’s Flash over to iOS in iPad. The hacker has achieved this by converting Android’s Flash 10 into a Safari plugin through a translation layer. Safari running on a jailbroken iPad can use this plugin.

A demo video demonstrates Comex using Flash on iPad. Since the hack is in its infancy, it still needs a lot of work. While loading the game Alien Hominid, interface issues were faced (these are evident in the demo). Still though, to some degree the hack contradicts Steve Jobs’ claim that Flash is not compatible with iOS.

The hack has been titled ‘Frash’ and will be available once it has been stabilized. Meanwhile you can check out the entire hack demo on YouTube.
