The past decade has seen the internet become ubiquitous. Unplugging yourself for even a day seems like an impossible task these days. That doesn’t stop parents from worrying when their kids have unrestricted access to internet. The internet is just a tool. Its use determines how good or bad its effect can be. This was the issue the makers of MiiPC were looking to solve.
What It Does:
MiiPC is an ongoing project at Kickstarter and with 43 days to go, it has already completed its $50,000 funding goal. MiiPC’s goal is to put complete power of kids internet habits into the parents hands. MiiPC can be used to browse the internet, play videos, edit documents and run Android apps. The best part about MiiPC is that it comes with a companion app for Android and iOS which can help you set rules for what your kids can do on the Android PC and you can use it for real time monitoring as well. MiiPC also supports multiple user accounts.
What’s In It:
MiiPC is powered by a 1.2GHz dual core processor and 1GB of RAM. It comes with an in-built 4GB of storage which can be expanded with an SD slot and USB ports. MiiPC runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and is capable of FullHD 1920×1080 resolution when connected with a display. Other features include WiFi, a speaker and microphone jack, 2 USB ports and an ethernet port. A mouse and keyboard can be used with MiiPC but they are sold separately.
Pricing and Availability:
MiiPC is going to retail for $99 in July-August later this year. If you donate on Kickstarter right now, you can get one for $89 and MiiPC will shipped to you by the 15th of July. As always, there are multiple tiers for donations and each come with their own perks.
